The role of the Defence Service Corps (DSC) is to provide security cover to Important Armed Forces Installations and Civil Establishments of the Ministry of Defence against sabotage and pilferage.
Defence Service Corps (DSC) provides armed security staff, Static Guards, Searchers, Escorts, and mobile patrols round the clock. It is one of the sixth largest Corps of the Indian Army. They provide a great degree of protection being armed. The motto of this organization is “Raksha Tatha Suraksha”.
At present the main user agencies of DSC Platoons are as under:
- Army – 37.55%
- Navy – 10.83%
- Air Force – 32.72%
- Others – 18.90%
Presently, the contribution of retired soldiers of all the three services in Defence Service Corps (DSC) recruitment is as under:
- Army – 75%
- Air Force & Navy – 01%
- Territorial Army – 24%
The Defence Service Corps (DSC) personnel are rotated in all the commands during their service. They are preferably posted in their state or closer to the state.
Defence Security Corps (DSC) Bharti Eligibility Criteria
1) Character: The character of the candidate must be exemplary or very good.
2) Service: Must have completed at least five years of color service in the Armed Forces.
3) Qualifying Service: The term of qualifying service will be considered valid for pension and gratuity.
4) TA Service: Should have at least 3 years of Embodied Service (continuous service) and a minimum of seven years of annual training camp (ATC ) is compulsory for Territorial Army soldiers.
5) Medical category: The medical category of the candidate should be SHAPE-1 at the time of retirement from the previous service. However, those whose medical category has been upgraded five years before the discharge due to “Alcohol Dependency Syndrome”, are not eligible for re-enrollment in DSC.
6) Five-Year Interval: The interval between the date of the physical and medical test at the Army Recruitment Office or Recruitment Agency for re-enrolment in DSC and the date of retirement from the previous service should not be more than five years.
7) Age Criteria for DSC: The age for re-enrollment in the DSC and maximum age up to which one can serve is as under:

8) Recruitment of Clerk GD / Clerk SD in DSC: For re-enrollment in DSC, Clerk GD / Clerk SD who has retired from service in the rank of Nayak / Havildar will be eligible for re-enrolment as Clerk in DSC. Clerk (SKT / I M) will not be eligible for recruitment in DSC.
9) Discipline: Personnel with not more than one red ink entry during the last five years and not more than two red ink entries during the entire former service are eligible for re-enrolment into Defence Service Corps (DSC). However, that person who has been awarded one red ink entry under Army Act Section 48 for intoxication during the last five years of former service are NOT eligible for re-enrolment into Defence Service Corps (DSC).
10) Educational Qualification: The re-enrollment in DSC is done on the basis of educational qualification entered in his Discharge Book. The minimum education qualification for non-metric personnel is the Army 3rd Class Certificate of Education (ACE-III).
11) Recruitment of JCO in DSC: Only Army JCOs and their counterparts in the Navy, Air Force, and TA are eligible for lateral entry as Junior Commissioned Officers in DSC. The vacancies for the JCO category are allotted only to various Regiment /Corps Training Centers.
12) Re-enrollment of TA Soldiers in DSC: Ex-TA Soldiers will be nominated only by Regimental Centers having TA Battalions.
13) Cook Recruitment in DSC: There is no provision for re-enrollment in DSC as Cook. If a cook fulfills the eligibility of an Ex-Serviceman Soldier (GD), then he can be re-enrolled as Soldier GD.
14) Reasons for discharge from the Army: To join DSC, the ex-servicemen must have completed the prescribed service period in the Armed Forces or have retired at their own request. The following reasons/causes of discharges are not eligible for recruitment in DSC:-
- Service no longer required.
- Unsuitable for further service.
- Unlikely to become an efficient soldier.
- Ineligible for further service.
- Dismissed from the service.
15) Plural Marriage: Individuals having plural marriage (more than one marriage) are not eligible for re-enrollment in the DSC under Army Rule 13 (3) Item III (v).
16) Physical Fitness Test for DSC Enrolment: The following Physical Fitness Test/PPT is required for re-enrollment in DSC:
(a) PPT as applicable to the age in the Army will be conducted for re-enrolment for Ex-Servicemen in DSC. The following Physical Tests are conducted: –
- 2.4 KM run
- 100 Meter sprint
- 5 Meter shuttle (1 Min)
- Push Ups
- Bent Knee Sit Ups
- Chin Ups.
(b) Physical Measurement Test (PMT) Height/Weight/Chest will be applicable as per initial enrolment into the Army/Navy/Air Force.
17) Documents Required: Details of documents required for re-enrolment in DSC are as follows:

18) Concessions and Benefits: In addition, to pay, the personnel of DSC will continue to get DA, CCA, and other allowances as applicable to Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel. They are also entitled to the following:
(a) 45 days of Annual Leave and 15 days of Casual Leave.
(b) Leave Travel Concession.
(c) Haircutting/Cleaning and Washing allowance.
(d) Children Education Allowance/Reimbursement of Tuition Fee.
(e) Free medical treatment as for Regular Armed Forces personnel.
(f) Free Rations.
(g) Amenities as for Regular Army Personnel.
(h) Benefits under AWWA Relief Fund.
(j) Benefits under ESSA.
(k) Army Group Insurance.
(l) Admissibility of DA on the previous pension, in addition to pay resulting in double DA for ex-pensioners of DSC.
19) Promotion: The promotion of the Sepoy (GD) to the rank of Naik and Havildar will be as per their seniority in the DSC. However, promotion to the rank of JCO is to be as under:
(a) 50% of vacancies of JCOs are being filled up through lateral entry. (Direct from retired JCOs of Army, Navy & Air Force).
(b) 50% of vacancies of JCOs are being filled up through departmental promotion.

रक्षा सुरक्षा कोर में भर्ती
डिफेंस सर्विस कॉर्प्स (DSC) की भूमिका महत्वपूर्ण रक्षा सशस्त्र बल और रक्षा मंत्रालय के नागरिक प्रतिष्ठानों को तोड़फोड़ और चोरी के खिलाफ सुरक्षा कवच प्रदान करना है।
रक्षा सेवा कोर (DSC) सशस्त्र सुरक्षा कर्मचारी, स्टेटिक गार्ड, खोजकर्ता, एस्कॉर्ट्स और मोबाइल गश्त चौबीसों घंटे प्रदान करता है। यह भारतीय सेना की छठी सबसे बड़ी कोर में से एक है। वे महत्वपूर्ण सशस्त्र सुरक्षा प्रदान करते हैं। इस संगठन का आदर्श वाक्य “रक्षा तथा सुरक्षा” है।
वर्तमान में डीएससी प्लाटून्स की मुख्य उपयोगकर्ता इस प्रकार हैं:
- सेना – 37.55%
- नौसेना – 10.83%

वर्तमान में रक्षा सेवा कोर (डीएससी) भर्ती में सभी तीन सेवाओं के सेवानिवृत्त सैनिकों का योगदान निम्नानुसार है:

रक्षा सेवा कोर (डीएससी) के कर्मियों को उनकी सेवा के दौरान सामान्यतः बारी – बारी से सभी कमांडों में तैनात जाता है। वे सामान्यतः अपने राज्य में या राज्य के करीब तैनात किये जाते हैं।
रक्षा सुरक्षा कोर में भर्ती की पात्रता
1) चरित्र (Character): उम्मीदवार का चरित्र अनुकरणीय (Exemplary) या बहुत अच्छा (Very Good) होना चाहिए।
2) सेवा (Service): सशस्त्र बलों में कम से कम पांच साल की Colour सेवा पूरी कर ली हो।
3) योग्यताधारी सेवा (Qualifying Service): योग्यता सेवा की अवधि पेंशन और ग्रेच्युटी के लिए वैध मानी जाएगी।
4) टीए सेवा (TA Service): कम से कम 3 वर्ष की सन्निहित सेवा(Embodied) (निरंतर सेवा) होनी चाहिए और प्रादेशिक सेना के सैनिकों के लिए न्यूनतम सात वर्ष का वार्षिक प्रशिक्षण शिविर (एटीसी) अनिवार्य है।
5) चिकित्सा श्रेणी (Medical Category): पिछली सेवा से सेवानिवृत्ति के समय उम्मीदवार की चिकित्सा श्रेणी SHAPE-1 होनी चाहिए। हालांकि, जिनकी शराब श्रेणी “अल्कोहल डिपेंडेंसी सिंड्रोम” के कारण डिस्चार्ज होने से पांच साल पहले अपग्रेड की गई है, वे डीएससी में पुन: नामांकन के लिए योग्य नहीं हैं।
6) पंचवर्षीय अंतराल (Five Year Interval): डीएससी में पुन: नामांकन के लिए सेना भर्ती कार्यालय या भर्ती एजेंसी में शारीरिक और चिकित्सा परीक्षण की तिथि और पिछली सेवा से सेवानिवृत्ति की तारीख के बीच का अंतराल पांच साल से अधिक नहीं होना चाहिए।
7) डीएससी के लिए आयु मानदंड: डीएससी में पुन: नामांकन के लिए आयु और अधिकतम आयु जिसके अनुसार कोई भी सेवा कर सकता है:

8) डीएससी में क्लर्क जीडी / क्लर्क एसडी की भर्ती: डीएससी में पुन: नामांकन के लिए, क्लर्क जीडी / क्लर्क एसडी जो नायक / हवलदार के पद पर सेवा से सेवानिवृत्त हुए हैं, डीएससी में क्लर्क के रूप में फिर से नामांकन के लिए पात्र होंगे। DSC में भर्ती के लिए क्लर्क (SKT / I M) पात्र नहीं होंगे।
9) अनुशासन (Discipline): पिछले पांच वर्षों के दौरान एक से अधिक लाल स्याही प्रविष्टि (Red Ink Entry) और पूरी पूर्व सेवा के दौरान दो से अधिक लाल स्याही प्रविष्टियों (Red Ink Entries) नहीं होने पर रक्षा सेवा कोर (डीएससी) में फिर से नामांकन के लिए पात्र हैं। हालांकि, वह व्यक्ति जिसे पूर्व सेवा के पिछले पांच वर्षों के दौरान नशे के लिए सेना अधिनियम धारा 48 के तहत एक लाल स्याही प्रविष्टि (Red Ink Entry) किया गया है, रक्षा सेवा कोर (डीएससी) में फिर से नामांकन के लिए पात्र नहीं हैं।
10) शैक्षिक योग्यता(Educational Qualification): डीएससी में पुन: नामांकन उसकी डिस्चार्ज बुक में दर्ज शैक्षिक योग्यता के आधार पर किया जाता है। गैर-मेट्रिक कर्मियों के लिए न्यूनतम शिक्षा योग्यता आर्मी थर्ड क्लास सर्टिफिकेट ऑफ एजुकेशन (ACE-III) है।
11) डीएससी में जेसीओ की भर्ती (Recruitment of JCO in DSC): सेना , नौसेना, वायु सेना और टीए में केवल जेसीओ और उनके समकक्ष डीएससी में जूनियर कमीशन अधिकारी के रूप में पार्श्व प्रविष्टि के लिए पात्र हैं। जेसीओ श्रेणी के लिए रिक्तियां केवल विभिन्न रेजिमेंट / कोर प्रशिक्षण केंद्रों को आवंटित की जाती हैं।
12) डीएससी में टीए सैनिकों का पुन: नामांकन (Re-enrollment of TA Soldiers in DSC): एक्स-टीए सैनिकों को केवल उन रेजिमेंटल सेंटरों द्वारा नामित किया जाएगा जिनके पास TA बटालियन हैं।
13) डीएससी में कुक भर्ती Re-enrollment of Cook in DSC): कुक के रूप में डीएससी में फिर से नामांकन के लिए कोई प्रावधान नहीं है। यदि कोई कुक पूर्व-सैनिक सैनिक (जीडी) की पात्रता को पूरा करता है, तो उसे सोल्जर जीडी के रूप में फिर से नामांकित किया जा सकता है।
14) सेना से सेवानिवृति के कारण (Reasons for discharge from the Army): डीएससी में शामिल होने के लिए, पूर्व सैनिकों ने सशस्त्र बलों में निर्धारित सेवा अवधि पूरी कर ली होगी या अपने अनुरोध पर सेवानिवृत्त हो गए होंगे। डिस्चार्ज के निम्नलिखित कारण डीएससी में भर्ती के लिए पात्र नहीं हैं: –
- सेवा की अब आवश्यकता नहीं है।
- आगे की सेवा के लिए अनुपयुक्त।
- एक कुशल सैनिक बनने के लिए अपात्र।
- आगे की सेवा के लिए अयोग्य।
- सेवा से बर्खास्त
15) बहु विवाह (Plural Marriage): बहुवचन विवाह (एक से अधिक विवाह) वाले व्यक्ति सेना नियम 13 (3) मद III (v) के तहत DSC में पुन: नामांकन के लिए पात्र नहीं हैं।
16) डीएससी नामांकन के लिए शारीरिक स्वास्थ्य परीक्षण(Physical Fitness Test for DSC Enrolment):
(क) सेना में उम्र के लिए लागू पीपीटी डीएससी में पूर्व सैनिकों के लिए फिर से नामांकन के लिए आयोजित किया जाएगा। निम्नलिखित शारीरिक परीक्षण आयोजित किए जाते हैं: –
- 2.4 KM रन
- 100 मीटर स्प्रिंट
- 5 मीटर शटल (1 मिन)
- पुश अप्स
- बेंट Knee सिट अप्स
- चिन अप्स।
(ख) सेना / नौसेना / वायु सेना में प्रारंभिक नामांकन के अनुसार पीएमटी ऊंचाई /वजन / छाती लागू होगा।
17) डीएससी में पुनः नामांकन के लिए निम्नलिखित शारीरिक स्वास्थ्य परीक्षण / पीपीटी आवश्यक है:

18) रियायतें और लाभ: डीएससी के कर्मियों को वेतन के अलावा सेना, नौसेना और वायु सेना के कर्मियों को लागू डीए, सीसीए और अन्य भत्ते मिलते रहेंगे। इसके अलावा, वे निम्नलिखित के भी हकदार हैं: –
(क) वार्षिक अवकाश के 45 दिन और आकस्मिक अवकाश के 15 दिन।
(ख) अवकाश यात्रा रियायत।
(ग) बाल कटवाने / सफाई और धुलाई भत्ता।
(घ) बच्चों की शिक्षा भत्ता / शिक्षण शुल्क की प्रतिपूर्ति।
(ड़) नियमित सशस्त्र बलों के कर्मियों के लिए मुफ्त चिकित्सा उपचार।
(च) मुफ्त राशन।
(छ) नियमित सेना कार्मिक के लिए सुविधाएं।
(ज) AWWA राहत कोष के तहत लाभ।
(झ) ईएसएसए के तहत लाभ।
(यं) सेना समूह बीमा।
(त) इसके अलावा, पिछली पेंशन पर डीए की स्वीकार्यता, जिसके परिणामस्वरूप भुगतान करना होगा
डीएससी के पूर्व पेंशनरों के लिए डबल डीए में
19) पदोन्नति (Promotion): सिपाही (जीडी) को नाइक और हवलदार के पद पर पदोन्नति डीएससी में उनकी वरिष्ठता के अनुसार होती है। हालांकि, जेसीओ के पद पर पदोन्नति निम्नानुसार होती है:
(क) जेसीओ की 50% रिक्तियां पार्श्व प्रविष्टि के माध्यम से भरी जा रही हैं। (सेना, नौसेना और वायु सेना के सेवानिवृत्त जेसीओ से सीधी)।
(ख) जेसीओ की 50% रिक्तियां विभागीय पदोन्नति के माध्यम से भरी जा रही हैं।
