On Monday, 23 people named by the CBI in an investigation into corruption related to recruitment scam to the force after searches at 30 locations in 13 cities.
Five Lieutenant Colonels, a Major and a Lieutenant of the Indian Army were among 23 people named by the CBI in an investigation into corruption involving recruitment scam to the force on Monday following searches in 30 places in 13 cities.
The accused include 17 army personnel in all and six others with “allegations pertaining to bribery and irregularities in recruitment of officers and other ranks through Service Selection Board”, the CBI said.
The agency said the case was registered based on a complaint from the office of Additional Directorate General, Discipline & Vigilance, Adjutant General’s Branch, Integrated HQ of Ministry of Defence (Army).
The CBI received a complaint last month that serving personnel were involved in accepting bribes for helping candidates clear medical exams at the Base Hospital in New Delhi.
The agency said that Lt Col Surender Singh of 31 SSB centre North; Lt Col YS Chauhan of 6 Mountain Division Ordnance Unit; Lt Col Sukhdev Arora of Directorate General of Recruiting; Lt Col Vinay, GTO, Selection Centre South, Bangalore; and Major Bhavesh Kumar allegedly facilitated the selection of candidates through SSB.
It is alleged that bribes in several lakh rupees were paid to the officers and their relatives through cheques, cash, and online transfers for the selection of candidates, they said.
Searches were conducted on Monday at 30 places including the Base Hospital at the Delhi Cantonment, other army establishments, civilian areas covering 13 cities, the CBI said.
The locations searched include those in Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati, Kapurthala, Bathinda, Kaithal, Palwal, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Vishakhapatnam, Jorhat and Chirangon.

13 शहरों में 30 स्थानों पर हुई तलाशी के बाद सोमवार को सेना में भर्ती से जुड़े भ्रष्टाचार की जांच में सीबीआई द्वारा नामित 23 लोगों में से पांच लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल, एक मेजर और एक भारतीय सेना के लेफ्टिनेंट थे।
सीबीआई ने कहा कि आरोपियों में सभी में से 17 सैन्यकर्मी और छह अन्य लोग शामिल हैं, “सेवा चयन बोर्ड के माध्यम से अधिकारियों और अन्य रैंकों की भर्ती में रिश्वत और अनियमितता के आरोप”।
एजेंसी ने कहा कि अतिरिक्त महानिदेशालय, अनुशासन और सतर्कता, एडजुटेंट जनरल की शाखा, रक्षा मंत्रालय के एकीकृत मुख्यालय (सेना के कार्यालय से एक शिकायत के आधार पर मामला दर्ज किया गया था)
सीबीआई को पिछले महीने एक शिकायत मिली थी कि नई दिल्ली के बेस अस्पताल में उम्मीदवारों को स्पष्ट मेडिकल परीक्षा में मदद करने के लिए सेवारत कर्मचारी रिश्वत लेने में शामिल थे।
एजेंसी ने कहा कि 31 एसएसबी केंद्र उत्तर के लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल सुरेंद्र सिंह; 6 माउंटेन डिवीजन ऑर्डनेंस यूनिट के लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल वाईएस चौहान; भर्ती महानिदेशालय के लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल सुखदेव अरोड़ा; लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल विनय, जीटीओ, चयन केंद्र दक्षिण, बैंगलोर; और मेजर भावेश कुमार ने कथित तौर पर SSB के माध्यम से उम्मीदवारों के चयन की सुविधा प्रदान की।
यह आरोप लगाया गया है कि उम्मीदवारों के चयन के लिए कई लाख रुपये रिश्वत का भुगतान चेक, नकद और ऑनलाइन स्थानांतरण के माध्यम से अधिकारियों और उनके रिश्तेदारों को किया गया था।
सीबीआई ने कहा कि सोमवार को दिल्ली छावनी स्थित बेस अस्पताल, अन्य सैन्य प्रतिष्ठानों, नागरिक क्षेत्रों सहित 30 स्थानों पर तलाशी ली गई।
खोजे गए स्थानों में दिल्ली, लखनऊ, जयपुर, गुवाहाटी, कपूरथला, बठिंडा, कैथल, पलवल, बरेली, गोरखपुर, विशाखापट्टनम, जोरहाट और चिरांगोन शामिल हैं।
